Cass County Inmate Lookup
Cass County uses the statewide Indiana County Jail Public Portal, often called INjail, for public county-jail custody searches. The portal has a Search tab for name and date filters and a Counties tab that can open a county inmate list. Cass County jail records in that system are custody records, not final court records. They can help confirm whether a person is booked at the local jail, but the portal itself warns that the data may not reflect the most current court status.
The official jail source is the Cass County Jail page. It identifies Sheriff Ed Schroder as department head and lists the jail at 100 Court Park, Logansport, IN 46947. The jail phone is 574-753-7800, and the jail fax is 574-753-7816. The Cass County Sheriff's Office also lists staff contacts, jail administration, detectives, and public safety functions. Use the roster for the first search, then use the jail or sheriff contacts for current custody details.
The INjail portal source is the statewide entry point for Cass County inmate records.
The statewide portal is useful because it separates county-jail custody from court case status, state prison status, and federal custody.
Search Cass County Inmates
The direct search form is on the INjail search page. A search can be broad, such as last name plus Cass County, or narrow, such as last name, first name, birth date, and booked date range. At least one search value is required. Name spellings matter, but the county filter can reduce false matches when a common name appears in more than one Indiana jail.
- Open the INjail search page and choose Cass County in the county dropdown if the person should be in local custody.
- Enter a last name, first name, birth date, booked-between range, released-between range, or a mix of those fields.
- Review the result row for county, name, age, booked date, released date, and the profile view option.
- Open the profile to read booking charges, arrest details, bond, holds, and linked case information when those fields are supplied.
- Use Indiana MyCase for official court status because the jail record is not the court file.
The INjail search form is the source for Cass County inmate search fields.
Those fields let a user narrow a Cass County inmate search without needing a booking number.
Cass County Inmate Fields
INjail is built around simple filters. The roster does not require every field, but a single last name may return too many people or the wrong county. A birth date can help separate people with the same name. Date ranges help when the person was recently booked or recently released.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Options / Format Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Name | Text | Optional, but at least one criterion required | Max length 50; alpha-only entry. |
| First Name | Text | Optional | Max length 50; alpha-only entry. |
| Birth Date | Date picker | Optional | Uses m/d/yyyy format. |
| County | Dropdown | Optional | Select Cass to focus on Cass County Jail. |
| Booked Between | Date-range picker | Optional | Includes today, last 7 days, last 30 days, this month, and last month presets. |
| Released Between | Date-range picker | Optional | Includes last 7 days and last 30 days presets. |
| Search / Clear | Buttons | Search requires a value | Search runs the query; Clear resets the form. |
Note: If INjail returns no match, call Cass County Jail before assuming the person was not booked or has been released.
Cass County Inmate Profiles
A Cass County inmate profile can carry more detail than the search result row. The public display depends on what the jail transmits to INjail, so one profile may show more fields than another. Booking charges are not the same as filed court charges. A prosecutor may file a different charge, amend a charge, or decline a charge after the booking event. For that reason, court follow-up belongs in MyCase or with the Clerk of the Circuit Court.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name and INjail ID | The public roster identity used by the jail portal. |
| Age and County | Basic profile context and the county connected to the custody record. |
| Booking Number | The jail booking identifier when supplied by the facility. |
| Booked On / Arrest Date | The booking date and arrest date fields, which may differ by event timing. |
| Arresting Agency / Officer | The agency and officer fields when they are made public. |
| Released On | The release date field if the person is no longer in custody. |
| Charges, Cases, Holds | Booking charges, case references, and hold information if reported. |
| Bond | Bond section data, including known or unknown bond details when displayed. |

Cass County Jail Contact
Cass County has one local jail facility identified in the research materials for this page. The jail is next to the county court cluster in Logansport. It handles county custody before trial, after local arrest, and for local jail sentences. Sentenced state-prison custody is separate and belongs to Indiana Department of Correction records. Federal custody is separate as well.

The jail page is also the place where Cass County publishes the rules that affect visits, mail, phone time, and commissary.
Cass County Inmate Visits
Cass County Jail visitation is electronic video visitation. Scheduling goes through HomeWAV. The jail page says video visitation kiosks at the jail are free to use, while remote visits are available and charges apply. Visitors must be at least 16 years old. In the jail visitation area, no food, drinks, cell phones, cameras, or recording devices are allowed.
| Topic | Rule / Detail |
|---|---|
| Visit type | Electronic video visitation. |
| Scheduling vendor | HomeWAV. |
| On-site kiosk | Available at the jail and free to use. |
| Remote visits | Available; charges apply; check HomeWAV for current terms. |
| Visit hours | 7:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. daily. |
| Minimum visitor age | 16 years old. |
| Banned during visits | Food, drinks, cell phones, cameras, and recording devices. |
The HomeWAV source is the vendor channel Cass County Jail lists for video visits and phone time.
Because remote video visits can carry charges, users should check HomeWAV before scheduling from outside the jail lobby.
Cass County Inmate Mail
The jail's published mail-processing address is not the same as the street jail address. Mail is listed as Cass County Government Building, P.O. Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131. That out-of-state address should be used exactly as published when the jail instructs senders to use it. Call the jail before mailing photos, books, packages, or legal-size envelopes because detailed mail restrictions were not located in the official jail rules.
Financial services are also split by service type. Cass County Jail lists HomeWAV for phone time, JailFunds for commissary, the HomeWAV app, PayNearMe retail locations, and an in-person lobby option. The jail also states that if an inmate is released before commissary is distributed, the inmate may release the commissary to another inmate or pick it up within 72 hours; after that, it becomes property of CCJ.
| Service | Official jail-listed channel |
|---|---|
| Phone time | HomeWAV. |
| Commissary | JailFunds. |
| Mobile app channel | HomeWAV app. |
| Cash/payment retail locations | PayNearMe location finder. |
| In-person/lobby | Available in the jail lobby. |
The JailFunds source is the commissary channel listed for Cass County inmate funds.
Commissary and phone funds are service accounts, while bond and court costs follow separate court or sheriff procedures.
Cass County Custody Limits
A Cass County inmate record answers a custody question. It does not replace court records, driver records, police incident reports, or state and federal prison records. MyCase is the official route for court case status, charges filed in court, hearings, bonds, warrants, judgments, and sentencing events. The Indiana Department of Correction handles sentenced state-prison information. The federal Bureau of Prisons handles federal inmate lookup. Victim notification can be handled through VINELink.
That split matters in Cass County because the Government Building, jail, courts, Clerk, prosecutor, and pretrial services are close together around Court Park, but their records are still separate. A jail booking may point to an arrest and temporary custody. A MyCase entry may show the filed charge, hearing, bond, or sentence. A police report may stay with the Sheriff's Office or Logansport Police. A prison lookup applies only after a state or federal custody transfer. Using the right source keeps a Cass County inmate search from turning into a misleading all-purpose background check.
City police records also have their own channel. The Logansport Police Department accepts police reports and background-check requests by email, in person, or fax, and records staff contact the requester when records are ready for pickup and payment. The Cass County Sheriff, IN mobile app on Google Play and the Apple App Store is for crime reports, tips, public-safety news, and interactive features. Store descriptions do not advertise an inmate lookup.
Note: In an emergency, use 911 rather than the sheriff app, a roster search, or a public-records request.
